to do

reasons I don't need to start a new project.

1. gotta finish my shrug
2. gotta dye that yarn up
3. want to make something for April (gotta buy yarn first)
4. want to start on the girls bunnies AND knit up a dozen Easter eggs to hide with Mary
5. oh and that painting I started last weekend.

I DON'T NEED MORE CRAFTING STUFF........but we are off to Hobby Lobby anyway......

I should be doing anything BUT blogging right now.

I should be either 1. lanolizing Jack's soaker 2. cleaning the living room 3. doing my pushups or 4.making a menu/grocery list. But here I sit. It's been a rough morning and it's only 9:30.

I'm not even sure what I want to blog about. I had something to say when I sat down. I've been super tired this week. I'm so ready for spring and to be able to go outside for some sunshine and fresh air. A friend of mine asked me to knit a soaker for her baby boy that's arriving very soon, so I did that this week. I don't have a pattern I follow, so I winged it. Well, I should have used a pattern. I did the dang thing 3 times (in two days) before I was happy with it. So I stayed up much later than I should have. But it's done now and I am going to send it off tomorrow or Monday depending on when it is dry.

I have some yarn to dye up, but first I have to unwind the entire thing. I am not sure if I am brave enough to try that when I have both girls. It's going to be a skirty for Ellie so it's a lot of yarn. I'm not really sure how much I need, so I'm just going to dye 8 ounces. I can always use the left over yarn for something else. Maybe I'll get started unwinding this afternoon. Hmm, I wonder if I could teach Mary to do it:). We also have to go get cat food and bird seed today. We just hung a bird feeder. Mary loves to watch the birds.

I can't think of anything else to say. ugh. I just want to fall asleep. But Ellie's morning naps only last 15 minutes and it's already been 10. I've got to get some rest this weekend. Of course I won't, but it sounds nice. I feel like I'm moving in slow motion.

Oh, Mary liked her Valentine guy. Not sure if Ellie liked hers. They were super fun to make. I'm planning on using the same pattern with different ears and longer limbs to make Easter bunnies for them. I'm glad I took this pic of Mary with hers last week. I trimmed her hair this week and I'm sure it will be a while before it is this long again.

Yup. 9:47 and Ellie's up.

Valentines!

Thursday, February 12, 2009

stay tuned....

Mary's Valentine would have been done last night if the dang power hadn't gone out. ugh. It was super windy and then DARK. John read by flashlight, but I just went to bed. We missed Lost too. It's done now. I've got to start on Ellie's tonight. Who needs sleep?

Pics to come when they are both done:).

Outside!!!

After MONTHS of being stuck in the house, I took both girls out to play today!

Well, Ellie couldn't do much, but she can sit up in the stroller. We went for a walk and she looked around while Mary stomped in what is left of the snow. It was only 30 mins (and took 20 for the 3 of us to get our coats, boots, hats, etc) but it was a start.

I just this afternoon decided to make something for each of the girls for Valentines day. Pics to come!

Hmmmm......we have been outside in the last months. You know, to the car and back. Mary's been out in the snow several times. Ellie went out once when there were 10 inches a couple weeks ago. But this was the first time in a long time I'd taken both girls out by myself. I didn't want anyone to think we'd actually been inside for months. It just feels that way:).

Let it snow....again

I really dislike snow. I don't like the cold. I don't like being stuck in the house with the girls. We are missing story time for the second time in two weeks. BUT it is so pretty here. Our property is beautiful all the time, but the sun coming up though the trees and casting shadows on the snow is stunning. No picture I could ever take would do it justice. But here's a pic nonetheless.

Project 33: a challenge

So, I didn't want my resolution to be "I'm going to lose weight this year." I just had a baby (well, not "just" since she's five months old tomorrow) so I do have weight to lose, but I didn't want to focus on that. I want eating better and exercise to be my focus. But I didn't have anything specific in mind. Until Saturday. John told me about this program that can help a person do 100 pushups in 6 weeks. So, I looked it up (googled 100 pushups). I took the initial test Saturday. I did 7. Not too bad all things considered. So, that puts me in the second level of training. I start today, doing the program 3 times a week for 6 weeks. In theory, at the end of 6 weeks I should be able to do 100 consecutive pushups. Will I? Who knows. Only one way to find out! I assume it will take longer than 6 weeks (if I can't complete a workout, I'll have to do it over until I can), but I do want to try.

I'm also knitting something for myself! It's a wool/alpaca blend shrug with bell sleeves. I'm almost done with the first sleeve. I'm hoping to finish it in a week or so.

Argh, my coffee is cold. That's the only time I wish we had a microwave. (we had a built in at our old house, and didn't buy one when we moved as there isn't much counter space here.)
